Creating a Professional Newsletter on Canva!

Canva is a user-friendly design tool that will allow bloggers, business owners, educators, marketers, etc to create alluring graphics without design experience.  Canva is a free program that allows for newsletters, flyers, logos, headers, etc to be produced. The online designs on Canva provide users with a variety of features, including uploading photos, drag-and-drop,changes in layouts and fonts. With these tools, users can take their ideas and turn them into a design that can then be downloaded, shared on social networks, or printed.  Developing newsletters on Canva is a very simplistic way to get the information out quickly to your audience in a professional manner.   For the purpose of this blog, we’re going to demonstrate how to create a professional newsletter on Canva. The first thing you need to do is to create a free Canva account by going to  You will have the option to determine if you would like an education, small business, large company account etc.  You can determine how you would like to set up your account and for what purpose.

Once you are in Canva you see headings on your left side of the page that states the following:

  • Create your design
  • all your designs
  • explore Canva,
  • share with you,
  • team members,
  • your brand,  
  • find templates
  • Design school

If you are not graphically inclined (like myself) you going to want to find a template so that you can change the template with your information.   The template will assist you with the design to make sure that your newsletter looks very professional and eye-catching.

Once you click on find templates, you will find a list of many things you can create, but for the purpose of this blog, we are going to discuss how to create a newsletter.  Type “newsletter” in the search box and a list of newsletter templates will appear that you can use in order to create your newsletter. Once you choose the template that you like everything else is easy street.   Input your information in the template. You can change the text, background colors, add photos, use shapes, frames, etc within each template.    You could even change the layout of the newsletter if you don’t like the current layout.

Complete with a search bar, articles, and tabs that make it easy for users to quickly find solutions for their problems.  There are some contact forms available for big issues, but it’s harder to find email contacts or phone numbers for the support team. This can definitely be an issue for many users, especially if time is a factor.
